South South Peoples Assembly, SSPA, led by former Federal
Commissioner for Information, Chief Edwin Clark, yesterday warned the
Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Chairman, Professor
Attahiru Jega against disenfranchising Nigerians in the forthcoming
elections slated for March 28 and April 11.
The Assembly, which
rose from an extended National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja,
reiterated its earlier call for the resignation of Jega, stressing that
members of the group have lost confidence in his being able to
impartially conduct the 2015 elections against the backdrop that “he is
incompetent and dishonest.”
In a three- page communiqué read at
the end of the meeting by the SSPA Deputy Chairman who is a former
Military Administrator of Akwa Ibom State, Air Commodore Idongesit
Nkanga (rtd.), the group called on all Nigerians to vote for President
Goodluck Jonathan because of his achievements. This was as they insisted
that a vote for Jonathan was a vote for a new Nigeria since he is
determined to implement the report of the recent National Conference.
