Curfew is declared in taraba over the violence

The Taraba state governor, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi declared a curfew from 7pm to 6am because of the violent act of the people following the announcement of the governorship election result .The state polls was inconclusive as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  The given reason for the cancellation is that the total number of votes rejected and cancelled was more than the total vote with which the PDP’s candidate led the APC runner-up.


According to Vanguard six people had been killed at Sunkani, the capital of Ardo Kola LGA as a result of the post-election crisis.

Unrest has already been recorded in Jalingo, Ardo Kola, Gasol and Sadauna LGAs of Taraba state.

A brother of Mark Useni, the speaker of Taraba state House of Assembly, was reportedly killed by gunmen in Takum local government area.

According to The Punch update, at least three people have been killed in Jalingo and the house of the Secretary to the State Government has been razed.

Reacting to the outcome, Dickson Ishaku (PDP) urged his supporters to maintain peace in the state as he said: “I appreciate the people of Taraba state who came out enmass to vote for me, destiny can be delayed but can not be changed, am appealing to all my supporters to remain calm as we as responsible people are following the issue with wisdom.
